STD's
When one is
confronted with having a STD, there is extreme
anxiety and embarrassment. This is normal,
especially when one considers the impact of
psychosocial issues from relationships to personal
health. The shock of the initial diagnosis once a
STD has been confirmed and the associated
embarrassment of the patient inspires many
questions. The following pages review some of the
more common sexually transmitted diseases and their
symptoms. Hopefully, this will may make it easier
for our patients to review their own symptoms in the
privacy of their home.

Whenever one
is confronted with a sexually transmitted disease,
it is important that the patient be immediately
reassured that he/she is not alone in their
experience, and that management is possible. Even
today, with diseases such as Herpes, Venereal Warts
and HIV, a normal quality of life can be possible
with prompt medical attention and wondrous new
medications.
