Biopsy and Pathology
Information
BIOPSY INFORMATION.
You have just had a skin biopsy taken for
examination purposes. This specimen was removed to
evaluate a skin growth or rash. Your skin sample
will be examined in a laboratory where a skin
pathologist will look at it under a microscope. The
findings of the examined skin will be reported back
to our office within a one to two week time frame. We
will contact you with your pathology results as soon
as possible (usually one to three weeks). An office
surgery will be scheduled if further treatment is
necessary.
YOUR PATHOLOGY REPORT CAME BACK POSITIVE FOR A
PRECANCER OR CANCER.
WHAT'S NEXT?
As soon as possible, your report will be reviewed
with you by our triage nurse and the options for
treatment will be discussed with you. If surgery is
actually needed (sometimes it is not), our triage
department will review important before and after surgery
instructions with you and schedule your procedure.
If you have any other questions about your biopsy
report,
please contact our surgical care team at
904.285.7546 ext 210 or 240 or email
amy@pvderm.com. We will be happy to
assist you!
